Commission for Rural Communities – Best Practice In 2006, DYN’s work was cited as a good practice example by the Commission for Rural Communities (part of the Countryside Agency). The CRC chose about thirty examples of Best Practice from across the UK. The booklet produced by the CRC on DYN’s work is available on www.ruralcommunities.gov.uk
British Telecom – Seen and Heard Award In November 2006, British Telecom gave DYN a national award for consulting with young people as part of their Seen and Heard project, advocating good practice in communicating with young people. www.btplc.com/listening_seen_heard.2006
New Project - Great Shefford Youth Club As part of the DYN pilot project which has worked with rural Parish Planning Groups, Great Shefford has set up a new youth club and has refurbished the football goals on the recreation field. The refurbishment of the goals was funded through a small grant from Connexions and the youth club is receiving funding through the Local Network Fund.
A sign up and introduction day is planned for mid-February and a first session of the club on the 28th February 2007.
Activities so far include: Football coaching, Circus skills, Drama, Snooker, film nights, computer games, Treasure hunts, Outings (ice-skating, bowling, theatre).
Great Shefford expect to run sessions approximately once a fortnight at the village school or hall and will need many more parents to help on a rota….no heavy planning and organisation will be expected from volunteers, just willing extra hands.
